Liver is the largest digestive gland and parenchymal gland organ in the body, weighing about 1200-1600g, accounting for about 1/50 of adult body weight. By using Computer Assisted Surgery System (CAS) to load liver CT data set in format of DICOM, a transparent, visible and arbitrary three-dimensional digital model including adult liver parenchyma, portal venous system and hepatic arterial system, hepatic vein and biliary system could be constructed. Thus the digital liver of an individualized adult liver is formed. The digital liver is capable of presenting the functional liver volume and morphology of normal adult, hepatic portal vein and hepatic artery, the distribution of portal vein, and the condition of biliary tract, etc., which provides individualized clinical information for liver function reserve evaluation, evaluation for liver transplantation and evaluation of prevalence rate.
The morphological features, volume capacity, vascular type, and ethnic differences of human liver can be obtained through analyzing the large database of normal adult digital liver (normal adult digital liver database), while can only be collected from autopsy, intraoperative findings, and two-dimensional image data before. The database also provides intuitive and effective clinical data for understanding the morphological structure, anatomy and physiology of normal adult liver and a strategic research method for us to explore the hide characteristics of the normal human liver.
Liver has a complex anatomical structure and varies widely. By using Computer Assisted Surgery System (CAS) to load liver CT data set in format of DICOM, an adult normal liver digital model could be constructed. The model has vivid shape, strong stereo sense and anatomical structure, which can provide liver structure, the branch of the hepatic vascular system, and anatomy between them. The three-dimensional model can be enlarged, shrunk, rotated and transparentized, and the reconstructed parts of each organ are displayed individually, simultaneously or in different combinations. The morphology of liver, hepatic vein, portal vein and hepatic artery and other important pipeline can be observed at any angle, measured and classified. We can also calculate volume of each vein and analyze intrahepatic vascular anatomy, which makes the anatomy of the liver individualized and precise, and is significance of the diagnose the common diseases in the department of adult hepatobiliary surgery, such as liver tumor, hepatic calculus, respectability and risk assessment and evaluation of compensatory volume of remaining liver.
